I have always placed an importance on looking smart when out and about with my horse – I like to have nice pictures to put on the blog, and I feel it’s important to leave a good impression and represent ourselves well! So I put in effort into sourcing tack and clothing for my horses and I that will paint a good picture. After all, we may not do well, but at least we’ll look good trying! I try to wear a smart outfit that will complement whatever Paddy is wearing too – and tend to go for muted colours like Navy, Black, Grey or Brown so everything goes!
I was delighted to find a pair of very smart breeches while rummaging through the rails of the showroom of Dressage by Design – the Eurostar Easy Rider Dela Full Seat Breeches in Graphite. I fell in love with these breeches when I felt the material – cool, yet perfect for shielding the odd light showers – and the design – the diamantes on the pockets, and the contrasting beige full seat.
These are my ‘good breeches’ – I keep them for lessons and schooling primarily. However for a period of time I was out 1-2 times a week, so they were well worn! They are so comfortable, and definitely my go to breeches for looking smart – but are also very functional with the full seat (I only ride in full seat breeches). The colour means they go with pretty much every saddlepad the horse wears, or top I wear – super practical! They are also nice and high waisted, so hold it all in!
I’ve had these breeches for a year now, and so I can safely say I have put them through the most rigourous of product testing – they have been worn in the rain, in the wind, in the snow, out cross-country, in dressage lessons, and in showjumping lessons. They are still like new, and have no signs of wear or tear around the seat, no rips in the lining, and no stretching of the material. I have found them to be showerproof (not the same as waterproof), and somehow manage to be cool enough in summer, and warm enough in winter – though they’re a bit ‘brrr’ when you put them on first due to the nature of the material.
The RRP on these breeches is €129.95 (I paid a little less than this, if I recall correctly), and in my opinion they are worth every penny. If you’re unable to find the Dela breeches, I’d recommend looking at the wider Easy Rider line. They have the quality you’d expect from Eurostar, with a cost-effective price tag.
