So as we get Willow ready for backing very soon (eek!) I thought I would share with you how – and why – I came to own her!
I was doing my usual “let’s look at horses for sale that I’ll never buy” online (I’m sure I’m not alone in this?!) – until I spotted a blurry picture of a coloured horse jumping with its knees up by its ears! Try as I might, I just couldn’t get her out of my head, and following a quick phone call to a friend to make sure I wasn’t totally insane, we decided to go and view her! I had always wanted to buy a project but I hadn’t really thought about when – with Paddy slowly coming back into work now seemed like a better time than ever.
Less than two days later Willow was home with me! She had only been brought in from the field shortly before this, and in the arena just a couple of times – never under lights! When I saw her loose schooling, and then found out her grandsire was Cavalier Jump for Joy, I knew I’d found a good one
Here is a video of the day we viewed her – hoping she is going to make a very smart little horse! Eventing, Showing?! What do we all think?
